Baby Steps: Content (p2)

STEP 6: MORE PAGES

So the problem we have now is, our index.html is bascially finished, but it has dead links all over the place.

To fix that we're going to go to FILE > NEW > Composer page. Repeat steps 1-4, giving it the same background/links color, big title, and navigation menu. Then name it downloads.html, repeat 3 more times, saving a links.html about.html and guestbook.html.

First I'm going to dive into your downloads.html, since it will be the most complicated. If you make more than 1 type of CC (if you make adult female clothes, but also adult male, or you make adult female and teen female , or you make adult female clothing but also wallpaper) then you are going to want to make your downloads.html into a sort of crossroads. Again, lets build a table, but for practice sake lets make it a table big enough for all types of CC, by my count that is 9 columns, with 6 rows...

So, create your table as shown in Pt 2, it should look a little like this.

Add the categories of CC to the top row of the table, Clothing, Accessories, Genetics, Objects, Walls, Floors, Sims, Lots...

You'll notice that I left column 2 blank That is because we're going to combine the top row of column 1 and 2 together, this is so that column 1 and 2 will both fall beneath CLOTHING, and in a second you'll see why.

To combine the cells, highlight the those 2 cells, right click, and select "JOIN SELECTED CELLS"

So, you've joined those 2 cells, now fill out the rest of the table to your discretion...

Damn it, I just realized that I don't have enough rows. (>o<)

No biggie, fixing this in Composer is a snap. Right click inside the bottom row, go to TABLE INSERT > ROW BELOW. As you can see there are lots of other options, you can insert rows, columns, or cells, and put them above or below the selected cell/row/column. Very handy if you're an idiot like me who can't add properly.

So add additional rows, columns or cells, fill them out with your intended pages and you're ready to rumble.

note: If you don't have content for certain subjects DON'T make a page/link for it. It's frustrating for your viewer and unprofessional of you to have empty pages and dead links. Keep the table small and focused on what you have available at the moment. It's so easy to add to the table that there is no reason to insert options you don't have.

For each category you list, you'll want to create a new page, repeat STEP 1-4 of this tutorial just like you did for your guestbook.html, links.html, etc. and save the new files as intuative, lowercase filenames (AFclothing.html, hair.html, kitchen.html) In a minute I'll give you some tips on how to fill those pages out effectivly.
